ABOUT THE PLAY
A Susan Blackburn Prize Finalist (in the U.S. for the first time with BETC!)
A ribald musical romp featuring a barmaid turned swashbuckling pirate, the Royal Shakespeare Company’s The Fair Maid of the West is the perfect holiday treat crammed full of laughs, dances and physical hijinks.
Adapted from Thomas Heywood’s Elizabethan drama, the play follows the adventures of Liz, a resilient rat-catcher and barmaid in a Plymouth pub. She is falsely accused of murder, flees to Cornwall, opens her own pub, and sails to Spain to recover the body of her lover.
Surrounding Liz are a teenage orphan, a postman full of grandiose stories, a swaggering bully, and a divorcee with a heart and voice of gold.

The Fair Maid of the West is part of the 2026-2027 Boulder Season Subscription package. Using the code provided to them, subscribers will receive 10% off of additional single tickets beyond their subscriptions.
TICKETS
Single tickets for the Thursday-Sunday performances are $42.00. Preview tickets are $25.00.
Students can get $15.00 tickets and must show a valid student ID at the theatre.
Purchased tickets from the Dairy Arts Center will be emailed to you directly from the box office, and copies can be found on your Dairy Arts Center account.

Rodney Lizcano* (TRACK #1, PUB REGULAR) Rodney is an accomplished actor and director whose career spans over 30 years. He has appeared with the DCPA Theatre Company as actor for 24 seasons, Colorado Shakespeare Festival, Utah Shakespeare Festival, Alliance Theatre, Old Globe, Orlando Shakespeare Theatre, Theatre Aspen, Arvada Center, LOCAL, and Off-Broadway with Actors Ensemble Theater and DreamScape Theatre Company. He made his BETC debut in Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley, for which he received a Henry Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Additional BETC productions include, Tiny Beautiful Things and What the Constitution Mean to Me. Training: Southern Methodist University (BFA); National Theatre Conservatory (MFA).

Adara Baltazar (ASSISTANT STAGE MANAGER) is delighted to be returning to BETC for both sound design and stage management. She made her BETC sound design debut with The White Chip. Recent stage management and assistant stage management credits include The Diva Royale, Assassins, Morning After Grace (MAPAC), The Ballot of Paola Aguilar, Holly, Alaska! (BETC), and Shakespeare in the Parking Lot (DCPA). She is a graduate of the University of Denver with a distinction in stage management and recently graduated from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology with her Masters in forensic psychology.
Matt Crane (SCENIC DESIGN) is a Colorado based scenic designer. Previous BETC designs include An Enemy of the People and Holly, Alaska!. Recent local designs include: Romeo and Juliet, Junie B. Jones, A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder (Arvada Center), Furlough’s Paradise (Curious Theatre Company), Mary Poppins, Sister Act (Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center), Richard II, The Tempest (Colorado Shakespeare Festival), The Last Yiddish Speaker (Theater Or), Medea, Into the Woods (The University of Denver), and Die Fledermaus (Lamont Opera Theatre). In addition to theatrical design, Matthew is an associate designer with Lionfish Design, providing design and art direction for live events, broadcasts, and corporate clients. Rowan Livengood (ASSOCIATE SOUND DESIGN) Rowan is a local sound designer, proud to be rejoining BETC. Previous BETC sound designs: Hope & Gravity and Enemy of The People, Cry It Out and Mary Jane. Additional credits include ASM for Coal Country, Eden Prairie 1971, Ms. Holmes & Ms. Watson Apt. 2B, The Royale, and The Children and audio engineer for King Penny Golden Radio Show. A music lover and all around creative individual, Rowan is constantly raising the bar for himself and his craft.
Katie Hopwood McCleaf (PROPS DESIGN, OPERATIONS COORDINATOR) Katie’s prop work was most recently featured in BETC shows: Witch, Mary Jane, Brooklyn Laundry, Every Brilliant Thing, The Thin Place, Cry It Out, Holly, Alaska!, The Children, The Royale, Eden Prairie, 1971, and the touring truck shows- Amelia’s Big Idea and Dorothy’s Dictionary. She graduated from Salisbury University with a degree in Theatre Production.
Wessie Simmons (STAGE MANAGER) credits include: Disney’s Frozen, Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill, A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder (Arvada Center), My Fair Lady, Fiddler on the Roof (Aspen Summer Music Festival and School / Theatre Aspen), Brooklyn Laundry, Hope and Gravity, Enemy of the People, What the Constitution Means to Me, Love Letters, Holly Alaska World Premiere, Coal Country (Boulder Ensemble Theatre Company), King Lear, Much Ado About Nothing, Book of Will, Two Gentlemen of Verona, The Alchemist (Colorado Shakespeare Festival).
Sarah Zinn (COSTUME DESIGNER) is the Costume Program Manager at the University of Denver, a draper at Opera Colorado, and has designed many BETC shows, most recently The Thin Place, Enemy of the People, White Chip, and Coal Country. Other recent credits include Romeo and Juliet (Arvada Center), Medea (DU) Richard II and The Tempest (Colorado Shakespeare Festival) and Baskerville (Lone Tree Arts Center). She received her MFA in Costume Design and Technology from Mason Gross School of the Arts. She was awarded the Henry for Outstanding Costume Design for BETC’s 2022 production of The Royale.
